Telescope filters in different colours are designed to enhance different details of celestial objects.
The red filter significantly improves image contrast and blocks part of the blue-green light spectrum. It is suitable for observing dark surface markings and polar caps on Mars, as well as Jupiter’s cloud bands. It can also reduce scattered sky light during daytime observation, although the image will appear slightly darker.
The blue filter helps highlight high-altitude clouds, cloud bands and atmospheric structures on planets. It is ideal for observing Jupiter’s cloud bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn’s cloud layers, and variations in brightness within Venus’s atmosphere.
The yellow filter enhances the contrast between orange-red regions and darker areas while having relatively little effect on image brightness. It is suitable for observing dark markings on Mars and the cloud bands of Jupiter and Saturn.
The green filter strengthens the contrast between reddish-brown and lighter areas. It is particularly suitable for observing the cloud structures of Venus, as well as Jupiter’s cloud bands and Great Red Spot and details around the polar caps of Mars.
